No reality please, just how I feeeeel about it

It is humorous yet frustrating to read so much political/social “commentary” that is driven by nothing other than the writer’s “feelings”.  Ad hominem labeling when you disagree with someone does absolutely nothing to deconstruct the position/opinion you disagree with.  So why do so many, particularly liberal, people do this over and over?  Probably because it makes them “feel” good or “feel” superior to those with whom they disagree.

I’ll tell you, feelings never built a house, fed a family or cured a disease.  Policies constructed by or due to “feelings” generally are going to fail on implementation.  This world is a world of factual realities, real weights, measures, populations and monetary amounts.  You’ll never “feel” your way to positive constructive change or improvement.

If a person posits a position with which you disagree, take apart the facts of the argument with facts of your own.  If you think an opinion is “mean” or “bigoted” or any other emotion based label you choose, its not sufficient to just label it emotionally.  At least not if you hope to sway any thinking people.
