When you can’t call a spade a spade

Doug Giles isn’t shy pointing out the threat to your freedom of speech.

The precepts of liberty and freedom are understood in a starkly different way by “progressives” (collectivists all) and by traditional and/or conservative Americans.

While the collectivists want to ensure your freedom to be disgusting, perverted and opportunity to kill the unborn, they pale at the thought of smoking, driving without a seatbelt and other things.

Freedom loving Americans understand that without values, there is no standard for justice.  Whether such values derive from our creator or from “natural law” they aren’t malleable.  Unless of course, you are a collectivist.  Values are transitory, “gray” and subjective to modern “liberals”.  That is why they so vehementy support things which are unnatural, disgusting, injurious or otherwise harmful as “civil rights” in many cases.  So given a neutral field, how can one support homosexual sexual practices and oppose cigarette smoking?  Both drive up costs to others, both are demonstrably harmful (or dangerous or both).

Liberty isn’t license.  The “social contract” is an artificial construct of the collectivist/statist NOSY people.  Those convinced of one of two things;

  1. I know better than you (and your neighbor) what is good and right and proper for you (and everyone) therefore I should be able and required to impose things upon you.
  2. I am weak lazy and ignorant and can’t possibly do anything on my own and expecting me to just isn’t fair, right or proper.  Therefore I need you (number 1) to dictate the rules of my life and give a cozy cocoon within which to laze brainlessly through my life.

Freedom is very simple and has nothing to do with what the leftist/socializers dream of.  Liberty means simply that you should be be FREE to do as you choose so long as it initiates no harm/force against others, costs others nothing (confiscated versus charity) and doesn’t impinge on that same freedom for others.

There are no rights that cost others property (money).  There are no freedoms that are forced upon others.  Liberty and Freedom are foreign concepts to our politicrats and the sheople who bleat for something for nothing (from others).  All they wish is for POWER.

  2. There’s little point in reasoning with them. They are either irrational or evil. I’d rather deal with the Godfather, who at least did not try to control people’s thoughts. Never trust them!
