The freedom-minded should have their children in private, parochial or home schools. The sacrifice is worth keeping a child's soul free of the pollution and indoctrination that is part and parcel of the soft totalitarianism of government schools. One hour in church, plus whatever family time is spent in meaningful conversation, will not counterbalance 6-8 hours of school, plus TV, the rest of the culture, etc. The only battle that counts is the one for the minds of the young. “Public education” is practically an oxymoron.
