Cap-and-Trade Threat Shadowed by BIG NEWS
May 26, 2009 – 9:54 amDear Readers: It is vital that we all keep our eyes-on-the-prize, so to speak, when it comes to protecting our businesses and finances. While it is easy to get caught up in the BIG NEWS of the day (e.g., North Korean Nutcase Tests Nuclear Bomb, uber-liberal judicial activists and social justice promoter Sonia Sotomayor’s likely seating to the US Supreme Court, in-fighting within the national Republican Party), this provides an opening whereby toxic legislation can be passed easily.
Therefore, I would like to take a moment to remind everyone Democrat Henry Waxman is poised to try and pass through his oppresive “American Clean Energy Security Act of 2009″ (ACES). The name was changed from “Cap and trade”, because most Americans understand “cap-and-trade” is a TAX.
Cap-and-trade is a tax designed to make carbon based fuels like OIL, COAL and NATURAL GAS more expensive by limiting the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that can be released into the atmosphere. Although the tax will be placed on businesses, they will pass the cost on to consumers. They must do this to stay in business. The bill is also poised to essentially stop the development of new coal sources, prevent the designation of effective nuclear power as a real alternative energy sources, and restrict the choices that Americans have on the type of appliances they use and the hours they can use them. Ultimately, the bill will cost most American families $4800/year and kill off thousands of jobs. It seems that some companies got sweetheart deals to support the bill (e.g., GE will build windmills and the approved appliances).

Don’t forget the “hate crimes” bill that threatens all aspects of the first Amendment as well as numerous other enumerated and unenumerated rights. Stopping C&T IS important but so are other issues. The broad front assault on American Freedom is intentional. Support the events listed AND contact your government to stop the “hate crimes” travesty also. Oppose liberal court activist nominees and demand a strong national defense posture.
