Tea Party Revolt Update #1
February 22, 2009 – 11:11 am
Hi! A few updates on the expanding Tea Party Revolt 2009!
First: Rebellion in Northern California, as citizens stomp on their uberliberal, stimulus-supporing Congressman who thinks 90% marginal tax rates are A-OK!
I explained to [Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton)] that even people who make $150k in Northern Cal. are not “rich” and should not be taxed as if they were…I also expressed my concern that about half the people in the country now pay no income taxes, so there is overwhelming incentive for them to keep voting for democrats and therefore higher taxes for the rest of us. He told me that he thought tax rates should go up for the very rich and that the top marginal tax rate should be 90%. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, so I asked in a voice that many in the room could hear if he really meant 90%, and he said yes. Several people asked me after my turn was over if they heard correctly what he said, and were amazed when I said yes.
Second: The tax revolt movement is growing, as noted in the Anchoress’ link above. The site of the San Diego Tea Party will be announced tomorrow. I imagine the revolts at the other locations are being finalized as I write. Check with the Shrine of Flaming Capitalism for information on how to connect to a Tea Party in your locale!
Third: Lipstick Underground has designed perfect Tea Party revolt-wear (see the graphic above), and it is available at the link here — perfect attire for exercising your Constitutional rights for free speech!

90% taxes are confiscation. This is de facto slavery, w/o the chain. The Congressman in question should be run out of office. I hope that, even in California, people have enough sense to see through this sort of thing. If not, shrug, Atlas, and let the system die.
