January 3, 2009 – 6:50 pmNothing. He’a a profane, disgusting pol who may be guilty of selling a Senate seat, but he’s not been charged, tried, or convicted. He has a right to fill that Senate seat, and, as Pat Buchanan points out, it’s really telling to have a 100% white Democrat Senate caucus threaten to bar the door to the entry of a qualified black man who did not have anything to do with the budding scandal. Shades of George Wallace at the schoolhouse door! Also, per Pat, what makes this guy less quailfied than the dittalente daughter of JFK?
Democrats are royalists at heart. Kennedy, Jackson, Coumo, Clinton, Rockefeller, et al, they fawn on the princes and princesses of the blood. Their star-worship is also characteristic of today’s bastardized GOP, which resembles the Democratic Party of the 1950s than the GOP of the same era.
As for Blago, he deserves a fair trial. Like Kwame Kilpartick in Detroit, he’ll get what he has coming, if, indeed, a crime has been committed. The unspoken question in all this is why the rush to judgement? A Democrat normally gets the benefit of the doubt., as John Edwards did, for months, when the press had the goods on him. What other story lurks ‘neath this one? There is one, and it will come out, probably after it’s too late to do much about it.
