Enumerated powers and the “bail out”

October 17, 2008 – 2:56 pm

As Sir Charles noted in a recent comment, most government power is supposed to reserved to the States and the people.  Federal power is clearly enumerated in the U.S. Constitution.  That doesn’t matter to our current politicrats.

I wonder how many, if any, current federal office holder or bureaucrat could identify this wisdom:

In the first place it is to be remembered that the general government is not to be charged with the whole power of making and administering laws. Its jurisdiction is limited to certain enumerated objects.” *James Madison
