1. ISRAEL BECAME A STATE IN 1312 B.C., TWO MILLENNIA BEFORE ISLAM;
2. ARAB REFUGEES FROM ISRAEL BEGAN CALLING THEMSELVES “PALESTINIANS” IN 1967, TWO DECADES AFTER (MODERN) ISRAELI STATEHOOD;
3. AFTER CONQUERING THE LAND IN 1272 B.C., JEWS RULED IT FOR A

ONLY ONE JEWISH STATE. ARABS STARTED ALL FIVE WARS AGAINST ISRAEL, AND
LOST EVERY ONE OF THEM;
14. FATAH AND HAMAS CONSTITUTIONS STILL CALL FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF
ISRAEL. ISRAEL CEDED MOST OF THE WEST BANK AND ALL OF GAZA TO THE
PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY, AND EVEN PROVIDED IT WITH ARMS;
15. DURING THE JORDANIAN OCCUPATION, JEWISH HOLY SITES WERE
VANDALIZED AND WERE OFF LIMITS TO JEWS. UNDER ISRAELI RULE, ALL MUSLIM

16. OUT OF 175 UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS UP TO
1990, 97 WERE AGAINST ISRAEL; OUT OF 690 GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTIONS,
429 WERE AGAINST ISRAEL;
17. THE U.N. WAS SILENT WHEN THE JORDANIANS DESTROYED 58 SYNAGOGUES
IN THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM. IT REMAINED SILENT WHILE JORDAN
SYSTEMATICALLY DESECRATED THE ANCIENT JEWISH CEMETERY ON THE MOUNT OF
OLIVES, AND IT REMAINED SILENT WHEN JORDAN ENFORCED APARTHEID LAWS
PREVENTING JEWS FROM ACCESSING THE TEMPLE MOUNT AND WESTERN WALL.

The facts about Israel also must include that the Israeli gov’t engages in ethnic cleansing of Christians, and does so to this day. The town of Abood, Christian since the New Testament, is an example. Bob Novak has written on this more than once. Arabs (Muslim or Christian) who did not flee in advance of the Istrali Army – 32%, according to the above – were forced to flee. We’re talking about ‘how many,’ not ‘if.’ Hamas is clearly worse, but the successors of the Stern Gang are no saints, either.
Jerusalem has been ruled by Jewish, Christian, and Muslim rulers. Since Mohamed, it has been ruled by Christians during the Crusades and, indirectly, under the League of Nations mandate (1922-1948), and has been in Jewish hands since 1948. the rest of the time, it has been under Muslim rule – Arab, Turkish, etc.
All of the above is interesting, but irrelevant to me, as an American. I am, like the Founders, the well-wisher of everyone’s freedom, but the defender only of America’s. I’d be wary of being drawn into arguments over historical birthright issues, as the folks at La Raza use similar language to justify their claim to “Azlan,” and Greeks have every right to do likewise over the Ionian coast – Greek from the Fall of Troy until World War I.
The State of Israel has a right to exist. It has 200+ nuclear weapons. It will continue, therefore, to exist. Those who court it’s destruction would bring their own upon themselves if they put Israel in peril.
Their fight isn’t ours, any more than Serbia vs. Kosovar Albanians or Georgia vs. Russia is. I object to my government’s policy being hijacked by foreign lobbies, whether Israeli or Georgian (as in the case of their lobbyist, Randy Schunerman, advising McCain). We should heed John Quincy Adams and not go abroad, seeking monsters to destroy. We have too many at home to worry about.
