Tort Leeches
June 16, 2008 – 3:58 pmReading Radley Balko’s Fox News opinion piece today provided another illustration of just how sick our system of suing everyone is.
Here is an outstanding overview of the problems with the U.S. tort system (suing people).
John Edwards gained his entree to poltics based on his nice hair and his ability to channel unborn children being born by C-section. He got his multi-million dollar estate that way. Isn’t he a wonderful populist?
Symptomatic of the cultural crud of “entitlement” that so many people have through ignorance or misunderstanding. Nothing is a “right” if it costs others their money or property.
The nanny state is the goal of those who know what is good for you better than yourself. The elitist socialist collectivist. As Shakespeare said (in a different context) in Henry the Sixth, “First, let us kill all the lawyers”. We aren’t that extreme, let us simply disbar the ambulance chasing, unborn channeling, class action suing leeches amongst the profession.
Better yet, let’s make individuals represent themselves. A fun exercise, check how many of your “representatives” are lawyers.
